“Would you buy an AI art?” – that’s a wrong question as far as the work is known / acknowledged as art.
We – the Great species of humans – or we the emotionally motivated, we’ll always appreciate and buy art. Always! That’s because Art is the vivid expression of our inner emotions. But now the true question is that knowing a painting is not made by one of us but it was made by AI – a computer program, plain and simple, is that art?! Really, I question here not that if we’ll pay for art but if we can allow ourselves – in our endless greed, no matter how fascinating might be, allow ourselves to call it an. art, an expression of emotional intrigue creativity – when instead is “only” a nice interesting and even intriguing work?! But emotionless and certainly nothing creative either…
On the other hand, looking at a Chimpanzee colorful painting we can be certain in the existence of art in that work, in the existence of emotions and creativity, and not an ingenious computer program – I guess!
I saw this on the BBC News App and thought you should see it:
A painting created by artificial intelligence will be auctioned by Christie’s this week.
